A PPL is a prerequisite to earning a CPL. A CPL is in turn a prerequisite to earning an Airline Transport Pilot License or any class of flight Instructor Rating. The CPL allows the holder to fly professionally as pilot of a single pilot airplane, or as co-pilot on a multi-crew airplane. A pilot with this license can work for hire.
